The first thing you need to do is find four items whether it is trees, or a couple trees and a fence or four poles you make or buy. You need four of these to create the “haunted house” just as each room in your home has four walls. In the event that a haunted house is out of the question you can go with a haunted trail you will still need a few items to attach your decorations to.

The haunted house first once you find four items you can use (as your walls.) Clothes line makes a good way to attach the black crepe paper just make sure it is up high so none of the kids will get caught up in it and hurt themselves. Measure the length from the top of the “wall” to a few inches off the ground and cut your black crepe paper the length you will need, enough crepe paper stripes to place one next to the other to cover the entire outside of the “house.” You can use clothespins to hang them. You may want to cut extra stripes so you can replace them because inevitably a few will be pulled down or torn. You need a few battery operated lanterns to place inside the haunted house so that the kids can see the decorations and also for safety. You can place anything you like in the haunted house from a coffin made out of a large square box and covered in crepe paper, a few heads or brains let your imagination be your guide.

For the haunted trail, the idea is basically the same except you will attach the clothesline in a straight or slightly curvy manner, attach the crepe paper, with tape or a cloths pin to the clothesline, and place your scary decorations along the trail. Be sure to use a few lanterns or some type of lighting.

Another great idea is the cemetery this can be as small or large as you like. You can place anything you want in it. Vampires are very popular this year. You will need 24 roses in your centerpiece and you can make any color you want even 24 different colors if you would like or you could make 12 of two different colors or shades of a color and you can also make three different colors. That is the nice part about this centerpiece you make whatever colors you want and it will look beautiful regardless.

You will need a medium to large vase. Fill the bottom of the vase with multi-colored or use the colors you are using for the paper roses with gems that you can pick up at any craft store or dollar store.

Place your roses in the vase. If you used two or more colors, alternate them so no two colors are next to one another. You can also make eight roses choose a dominate color – white works well or if your centerpiece is made up of three shades of pink use the darkest color pink in the center, make the stems on these flowers slightly longer so they will stand out in the centerpiece. You can finish it off with a bow, hand tied ribbon or lace.

Centerpieces that are made into a heart shape are wonderful! You will need either a heart shape container to place your flowers in so they form the shape of a heart of you will need the help of a pattern made from a firm piece of paper, you will want to cut a heat shape out of the pattern – leave just the outside so cut out your heart shape and cut out the middle. If you are using a vase as a holder simple place all your flowers in the vase, then place the pattern over the top and arrange the flowers or you can place the heart shape cut out over the vase or container and insert the flowers starting at the top of the heart and making an outline all the way around the heart then fill in the center and you will have a perfect heart shaped centerpiece.
